What makes a person iconic is their ability to inspire others. It is not only about having beauty on the outside, but also having the ability to reflect that beauty from the inside out. Here are a few lessons that we can walk away with thanks to the inspiration that some of our favorite beauty icons, such as Elizabeth Taylor have given us.
Enhance Your Beauty- Many people admired Elizabeth Taylor because she was a timeless beauty. With a perfect complexion, dark flowing hair, remarkable eyebrows, deep violet eyes and red lips, she embodied class, sophistication and style from the inside and out. With the proper makeup technique and products, you can easily recreate an
Elizabeth Taylor inspired makeup look.
Always Accessorize: Taylor’s jewelry collection has been given an estimated worth of over $150 million dollars. This is obviously not something we can all relate to, but what we can do is choose a piece or two that really represents who we are. Maybe it is a family heirloom or a gift from a special moment in your life, but whatever the sentiment, make it part of your signature style.
Accept your assets- Many beauty icons have followed in the footsteps of Elizabeth Taylor and they made the most of what they were given. Look at Angelina Jolie and her lips, or Cindy Crawford and her mole or Elizabeth Taylor with her double row of eyelashes and unique violet eyes. Even if sometimes we may view it as a flaw it could turn out to be our biggest beauty trademark. Often times the qualities that we wish we could cover up are what makes us unique and different. Instead of hiding it, highlight it. It’s all in the eye of the beholder and how it is portrayed.
Flaws can be beautiful too.
Be influential: Elizabeth defines trendsetting. She made everything stylish. Black Kohl eyeliner was all the rage after “Cleopatra.” While others may have stayed away from bold makeup, Taylor kept wearing her signature look;
deep red lipstick and dark eye liner in a slight cat-eye. The simple glamour of your eyes are best paired with red lips that Hollywood starlets have been trying to perfect for decades.
Give Back: Elizabeth became an activist on behalf of
AIDS/HIV research, long before it was fashionable to do so. She took a risk and started her own foundation and gave millions of dollars to programs around the world to fight against AIDS. Make sure to give back to the community in some way, it will not only make you look good, but it will make you feel good.

These are just a few of life’s lessons from the iconic Liz. Who is your ultimate
beauty icon?
